IFMGA Mountain Guide
My name is Bernard, I've been living in Chamonix Mont Blanc, France for 25 years, I was born in the french Pyrénées. I got my IFMGA guide certificate in 1991, I'm also a cross country ski instructor former biathlon racer. I also practice paragliding and paramotoring. I used to be an officer at the French National mountain military school. I’ve been an instructor for many years, then I managed, coordinated and controlled mountain courses, more specifically in charge of pedagogic, safety, and risk management subjects. I’m also a former member of the GMHM, a group performing expeditions on behalf of the Army and I had the opportunity to travel and climb new routes in remote places worldwide and took part to long polar expeditions in Greenland, Northern and Southern Pole ice cap. Now I want to share this background with people, meeting the challenge of being at the right place, at the right time, with the right conditions. Because that’s what the client expects from me and from the moments we will share and spend together in the mountains. Safety, adaptability, mutual trust and understanding are the necessary ingredients to have the best chances to reach the summits of your dreams!! I’m used with English speaking clients, I’m also fluent in Spanish.
My favorite climbs
My favorite climbs or climbing places are in winter the waterfall ice routes in Argentière on the right side of the glacier or in Cogne (Italy) or la Grave. On summer I enjoy a lot granite or mixed climbs in the Massif du Mont Blanc but I'm also a great fan of long limestone routes in Southern Alps close to the Oisans Range in the Briançon area.
